Climate Adaptation and Resilience Manager

Contract: Fixed term contract (2 years)

A day in the life of a Climate Adaptation and Resilience Manager will involve:

  • You’ll be the climate subject matter expert in the UK Crisis and Emergency Response’s Community Resilience Team. This team is tasked with supporting communities and individuals to build resilience against major risks, prioritising areas of greatest unmet need in the UK.
  • Building a framework for the Community Resilience Team’s approach to climate-informed resilience. Working with staff, volunteers and external partners. You’ll also draw on BRC’s resources, data and insights. The results of your endeavour will be embedded into our wider resilience strategy.
  • Being responsible for managing and coordinating the planning, implementation and evaluation of products that aim to deliver climate-informed resilience building activities into that framework.
  • Providing timely information and data on emerging needs to target resource and ensure a comprehensive approach across the team. You’ll also provide reports and updates as required.
  • You’ll work closely with a variety of stakeholders across the organisation. This can include project management, finance and product colleagues to maximise the cost-effectiveness of our climate and resilience support to communities.
  • You’ll proactively undertake and maintain partnerships with local authorities, academia and key voluntary and community sector partners. Helping to develop, deliver and monitor development of climate-resilience projects.

To be a successful Climate Adaptation and Resilience Manager, you’ll need:

  • Knowledge and understanding of climate adaptation and community resilience. Experience designing and implementing climate-informed resilience frameworks.
  • Experience of managing and delivering UK-wide projects, including budget management. Experience of feeding into strategy development processes.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with internal and external partners. Confidence when communicating to different audiences and the ability to bring together diverse teams around a common framework.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication, negotiation, persuasion, interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Experience liaising with a range of statutory and voluntary agencies, including local government and community organisations.
