Senior Emergency Response Officer
Location: Home based during Covid restrictions then based Reading/Thames Valley office
Contract type: Permanent
Hours: 35 per week
Salary: Level 3 (£21,831 to £25,106)

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Independent Living and Crisis Response team in the Thames valley area as a Senior Emergency Response Officer for a full-time permanent position. This is a great role for a highly motivated and well organised individual who wants to join a fast-paced and dynamic team. 

Within the UK, the British Red Cross operates through over 3,000 staff and over 20,000 volunteers. We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our independent living team in the Thames Valley to lead a team of staff and volunteers delivering services elsewhere in the patch, with a focus on community resilience. This is a great opportunity to make a huge difference to the lives of vulnerable people and to work with a positive and friendly team. The role will require regular travel.

The role will also form part of the area operational team and will be required to be part of the Duty Manager rota, to deputise for the ER Operations Manager when necessary to enable an effective response to crises. 

About you...

To be successful in this position you must have the following skills and experience:

  • Experience of maintaining effective working relationships internally and externally
  • Experience of creating and monitoring budgets and data
  • Strong IT proficiency
  • Ability to contribute to the development of operating plans
  • Excellent communication skills at a variety of levels
  • Understanding of how to improve service quality for the benefit of user(s) and to develop services in line with needs
  • Able to respond to emergency situations, with 24 hour on call duties as required
  • Able to work occasional weekends and evenings as required, as well as being on call when needed.
