About The Role

Policy and Advocacy Manager - Refugees and Asylum (Maternity Cover)
Location: London (Hybrid)
Salary: £46,766 to £50,402 per annum, pro rata (plus ILW, if residing & working in London) (DOE)
Hours: 35 per week
Contract: Fixed term contract (12 months from mid-February 2026)

As Policy and Advocacy Manager, you’ll lead the development and advancement of impactful policies to improve the UK asylum system. We particularly welcome applicants with a proven ability to create evidence-based public policy solutions and accompanying advocacy strategies, as this will be central to your work. Within a values-driven team, you’ll develop policy solutions, help shape advocacy campaigns, and collaborate with colleagues across Public Affairs, Research, Media, and frontline services. You’ll represent the organisation externally, build relationships with decision-makers, and ensure lived experience is reflected throughout your work. You’ll also support and manage a small team, contributing to a culture of inclusion, kindness and integrity. This is a role for someone who thrives on influence, evidence, collaboration, and who is passionate about driving meaningful change.
 
What will a day in the life of a Policy and Advocacy Manager involve?
  • Designing and driving forward evidence-based policy solutions focused on improving the UK asylum system.
  • Analysing trends and developments to inform advocacy priorities and strategies.
  • Collaborating with Public Affairs colleagues to support parliamentary engagement.
  • Building relationships with government officials and external stakeholders.
  • Representing the organisation at meetings, events and in the media.

To be a successful Policy and Advocacy Manager , what will you need?
  • Proven ability to create evidence-based policy and advocacy strategies.*
  • Strong communication skills to translate complex ideas for varied audiences.
  • In-depth knowledge of the UK asylum system.
  • Experience of influencing government policy and engaging decision-makers.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and provide strategic advice.
  • Line management experience and a commitment to inclusive leadership.
