About The Role

Community Agent
Location: 
Home based (Epping Forest District area) (requires travel within the area)
Contract: Fixed Term contract to end March 2022
Hours: 20 hrs per week increasing to a maximum of 30hrs if required (Part-time).
Salary: £18,200 per annum pro rata (including market supplement £1,326 per annum) (£10,400 per annum at 20hrs per week or £10 per hour.)
We’ve got an opportunity…
 
An opportunity has arisen to join our Independent Living team as a Community Agent on a fixed term contract basis.
 
We are working in partnership with the Rural Community Council of Essex (RCCE) and Neighbourhood Watch to provide a county-wide Community Agents Service. The main focus of this community-based, community–led, early intervention programme, primarily for vulnerable older people as well as informal carers and people with mild to moderate learning disabilities and autism , is to strengthen individual resilience, provide support at home and reduce the need for health, social care and community safety interventions.
 
You will visit service users to identify the need for advice, support, adaptations, independent living skills and social interactions. You will provide high quality information and support and promote healthy living via access to a wide range of services. You will also develop social networks and local activities that support health and wellbeing which can be sustained by the community in the longer-term. In addition, you will develop effective working relationships with all partners, stakeholders and local organisations.
 
The role is home based with occasional travel to the Red Cross Chelmsford office and other Red Cross offices as appropriate.

The Independent Living (IL) & Crisis Response (CR) service (IL/CR) are dedicated to making lives of vulnerable people a little bit better. We're a small team dotted all over the country that shares the same goal - to help those that need it most. From picking up groceries to helping out around the house, we're there to make a difference. There's nothing better than knowing the time we spent with someone made them feel safer, happier, and more able to deal with crisis.

 You can make things great. You know how to improve service quality for the benefit of users. You’re professional. You can deal with queries in a diplomatic and confidential manner, you love being flexible. Working hours out with the norm suits you.
 
Also, you should be the following:
  • Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent by experience)
  • IT literate
  • Have a full driving licence holder, held for x2 years, and access to own vehicle
  • Have a good knowledge of services provided by the NHS and Social Care
  • Have a knowledge of the local area served by the scheme
  • Able to travel around the area as required

Please note due to the context and duties of this role, in line with government guidelines it is not suitable for individuals who are clinically extremely vulnerable or clinical vulnerable to undertake this role.
