About The Role

Location: Glan Clwyd Hospital, Bodelwyddan (requires travel within the area)
Contract type: Fixed Term contract to 31st of March 2022
Hours per week: 18 (10hr shifts, 10am to 8pm over Monday to Sunday).
Salary: £18,351 per annum pro rata (£9,175.50 per annum at 18 hours per week.)

We are looking for a caring and resilient person, who can think on their feet in a pressured environment to join our Independent Living team.

Based in fast paced, busy and intense Emergency Department, you will provide practical and emotional support to patients. You will undertake non-medical tasks to free up the medical staff to be able to focus on their clinical role and make visitors' stay as comfortable as possible.

Responsibilities are very varied and include, but are not limited to:

-Escorting patients to assigned departments
-Collecting prescriptions to speed up their discharge
-Providing emotional support/pastoral care while they await treatment
-Providing emotional support to close friends and families
-Ensuring patients have food/drink while waiting for long hours
-Driving patients home when discharged and making sure they are safely settled at home
-Signposting and referring patients to other sources of support in the community

Please note that this service runs from Monday to Sunday (including bank holidays) and successful candidate will be expected to commit to up to 10-hour shifts (flexible days).

This role includes working face to face with service users and social distancing will not be able to be maintained at all times therefore, it may not be suitable for people that may be at higher risk of harm from Covid-19.

-Gwneud yn siŵr bod gan gleifion fwyd/diod os ydynt yn gorfod aros am gyfnod hir
-Danfon cleifion adref pan fyddant yn cael eu rhyddhau a gwneud yn siŵr eu bod wedi setlo’n ddiogel gartref
-Cyfeirio ac atgyfeirio cleifion i ffynonellau eraill o gymorth yn y gymuned

From picking up groceries to helping out around the house, we're there to make a difference. There's nothing better than knowing the time we spent with someone made them feel safer, happier, and more able to deal with crisis.

Also, you should be the following:
 
Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent by experience) 
IT literate
Full driving licence allowing you to drive a manual transmission vehicle
Have a good knowledge of services provided by the NHS and Social Care
