About The Role

Green Organisation Project Manager
Location: UK Flexible
Hours : 35 hours per week
Contract type: Fixed term contract until end of December 2023
Salary : circa £42,000 per annum

About the role…
As part of our Strategy 2030, the British Red Cross has committed to reduce its carbon footprint and drive our activity towards achieving Net Zero. This role is designed to support the organisation in achieving this through the Our Planet pillar of the strategy. The post holder will lead on ensuring our road map in is delivered  by working with teams across the organisation and performance report against it.

What will you be doing?
The Green Organisation Project Manager will be responsible for driving and embedding the workstream on changing behaviours and ways of working necessary for being a green organisation. You will work across the organisation to ensure people centred integration of a greener culture in the way we work. In addition, you will have significant interactions across both our Communications and Learning & Development teams to progress the work.   

The British Red Cross has a strong understanding of what needs to be done, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring all our teams engage with this and drive forward their relevant actions. We are therefore seeking someone persuasive who enjoys engaging with different teams and guiding them in their sustainability actions.

Also within this role you will be responsible for leading the development of the Sustainability Champions Network, a group of committed staff and volunteers who are early adopters of many sustainability actions, to ensure they are able to contribute to and drive changes across our organisation.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate skills in:

Organisation engagement and communications
Network development
Information capture


Key responsibilities of this role will include:
Lead the further development and delivery of the organisation’s green road map that sets out how the British Red Cross will reduce its environmental impact, engaging across teams to build whole organisation ownership of the green agenda and reporting against it.

Drive the delivery of an organisation-wide green behaviours framework that ensures staff and volunteers are aware of the importance of their role in building a green organisation.

Liaise with, and ensure coordination between, existing green and climate change groups and initiatives in the organisation to ensure they are in line with the strategy and have shared direction.

Drive the development and embedding of environmental impact assessments, and other learning across the organisation in a way that is meaningful and impactful, providing central support and training to enable teams to implement the approach, and to enable the organisation to learn and improve.
