A day in the life of a Building Surveyor (Facilities Management)
In this challenging role you'll be responsible for the delivery of facilities management projects resulting from escalations from our TFM contractor across our property estate. Your focus will be on fabric-related issues (such as roof replacement, damp and mould issues, and planned maintenance…). These works help fulfil our lease obligations, maintain our estate but most importantly keep our properties open for use.
Your expertise and fast reactions will ensure consistent support across all property-related activity.
This role sits within the Building Surveying function of the Property team and you will collaborate closely with the Facilities Management, Estates Surveying and Project Management teams who make up the wider Property Department. You’ll work with a high level of delegated authority and autonomy to deliver agreed outcomes. The area you will cover is vast but diverse and rewarding. This role is expected to be out on the road and often with little notice given due to the nature of reactive repairs.
We are looking for Building Surveyors (Facilities Management) in the following area:

The successful candidate for this region will be largely working from home, with regular site visits in the area. The roles cover properties across different regions of the UK and will require a readiness to travel and work outside normal hours as necessary. All roles come with a company car due to the travel involved.
To be a successful Building Surveyor, you’ll:
- Have a surveying qualification e.g. MCIOB, MRICS or qualified by experience.
- Have experience of the different responsibilities associated with building surveying. For example: building defect diagnosis, fire risk assessments, asbestos management, basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Be a dynamic yet adaptable person with the drive and determination to manage and prioritise your workload across a multi-site portfolio.

- Be able to produce tender documents, arrange tenders and act as a contract administrator.
- Be negotiating with all levels of external stakeholders including landlords and solicitors.
- Be a team player who is solution-oriented, communicates well, and influences effectively is key.
- Have a full UK driving licence and can travel within your region (sometimes with little notice).
