Driver Technician

In this vital role, you’ll ensure that our Mobility Aids Service (MAS) runs smoothly. You'll be key in maintaining, cleaning, and decontaminating essential equipment, ensuring that vulnerable individuals receive reliable and safe mobility aids. A major part of the role involves stock control and warehousing, ensuring that everything is in order and meets national standards. You’ll also interact with service users, providing top-notch support and helping them live independently. As a team player, you'll support your colleagues and grow through ongoing training. What will a day in the life of a Driver Technician involve? You'll be:
- Kicking off your day with a team meeting to review tasks and plan delivery routes with your colleagues.
- Inspecting, cleaning, and decontaminating mobility aids, ensuring that everything is safe and transport-ready.
- Maintaining the warehouse, managing stock control, and ensuring everything is in order.
- Occasionally heading out on delivery routes, interacting with service users, providing exceptional support, and following all driving and safety procedures.
- Returning to the hub to log equipment deliveries, updates, and any maintenance needs in the Beneficiary Relationship Management System (BRMS).
- Participating in ongoing training sessions and development activities to continually improve team performance and your own skills.
What will you need to be a successful Driver Technician?
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a strong focus on assisting people in crisis, and the ability to manage workload under pressure.
- Physical capability to lift and manoeuvre equipment weighing up to 21 kg.
- Capability to collaborate effectively within a team and take initiative when addressing issues, while also knowing when to seek guidance.
- A valid and up-to-date driving licence with category C1, along with being a confident and safety-focused driver.
- Proven experience in driving vans, and operating independently over extended distances.
- Thorough understanding of current laws and best practices concerning driver, vehicle, and road traffic regulations.
