What will a SQL Developer / Database Administrator 's job involve?
- Design well-architected data storage and management solutions for our critical services, collaborating closely with colleagues from across Technology and the wider organisation
- Applying modern ideas and understanding to support and maintain databases and data storage technologies, ensuring they are well-managed, monitored, up-to-date, secure, and performant, including scripting T-SQL development to automate routine tasks.
- Testing and improving our data back-up and resilience strategies for critical business-facing services, ensuring fastest possible recovery time to restore our critical services in the event of an incident.
- Regular review and enhancement to the security of our services; addressing vulnerabilities including; access requirements, hardening databases in line with industry recognised benchmarks, managing encryption, and ensuring data is protected from unauthorised access.
What will a SQL Developer / Database Administrator need to be successful?
- Experience working on database platforms serving a wide range of business needs in modernised enterprise settings.
- Proficient in database design principles, performance tuning, etc.
- Experience embedding security controls to mitigate against security threats, providing privacy and security by default and design.
- Good knowledge of resilience strategies, backups, and restoration, aligning with best practices.
- Knowledge of Azure data management and storage technologies, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure Cosmos DB.
- Proficiency in the SQL and T-SQL programming languages with a solid experience developing and supporting data management processes, such as SSIS and Power BI
