Are you a skilled relationship builder with a passion for humanitarian impact?
The British Red Cross is looking for a creative and determined leader to develop and grow multi-year partnerships worth £1m and above. You’ll work closely with some of the UK’s most influential philanthropists—building new connections and strengthening existing ones to support our global programmes.

To respond to growing needs, we aim to build lasting, high-impact relationships with individuals, families, trusts, and foundations. These partnerships are often multi-layered and complex, reflecting the breadth of our work across the UK and internationally.

To do this well, we need someone who is creative, collaborative, and tenacious. Is this you? If you're ready to grow a portfolio of transformational donors, we’d love to hear from you.

What will a day in the life of our Philanthropy Lead - Transformational Giving entail?

As a Transformational Giving Lead, you’ll shape how we engage with some of our most significant donors and prospects. You’ll lead the development of innovative, high-value propositions and build growth plans that align with our wider fundraising strategy. Excellent stewardship and donor insight will be central to your approach.

You’ll work across teams to champion a culture of philanthropy—building confidence in our work and forging strong internal relationships.

Using donor insight, you’ll create dynamic account plans that guide strategic engagement, uncover new funding opportunities, and position our cause effectively. You’ll bring credibility and accountability to every interaction, both inside and outside the organisation.

You’ll maintain a deep understanding of our work with people in crisis and engage supporters through updates, visits, and events. You’ll also share donor insights with our enabling teams to help shape future approaches.

This is more than fundraising—it’s about leading transformational partnerships that change lives. If you're passionate about building significant partnerships to help people in crisis, we want to hear from you.

To be a successful Transformational Giving Lead, you’ll need:
  • Extensive experience in philanthropy fundraising, including transformational and principal gifts, with a strong understanding of the opportunities and challenges involved.
  • Proven ability to coordinate stakeholders and work across teams, building positive, productive relationships both internally and externally.
  • A strong track record of managing high-value partnerships, meeting ambitious fundraising targets, and leading complex projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, with confidence in presenting ideas and writing persuasive proposals and reports.
  • A strategic mindset, with the ability to analyse and interpret both quantitative and qualitative data to inform decisions and influence a range of audiences.

Interested? Closing date for completed applications is 23:59 on Wednesday 19th November 2025. Interviews to follow soon after.

In return for your commitment and expertise, you’ll get:

  • Flexible working: Remote and hybrid working, flexitime, compressed hours.
  • Holidays: 36 days annual leave (including bank holidays) + option to buy 5 extra days.
  • Pension scheme: Up to 6% contributory pension.
  • Learning & Development: A range of career & learning opportunities.
  • Discounts: Blue Light Discount Card, Tickets For Good & employee benefits platform.
  • Wellbeing Support: Peer Supporters, CiC (EAP) & Headspace App.
  • Cycle2Work: Lease a bicycle through the scheme.

We are proud to be part of the Disability Confident scheme for UK-based roles. During your application, you'll have the option to apply under the scheme. At the British Red Cross, we value diversity and maintain an inclusive environment for all staff and volunteers. We champion our teams in bringing their true selves to work, free from discrimination. This is achieved through reporting and assistance from our internal networks: Race and Ethnic Equality (REEN), LGBT+, Disability and Wellness (DAWN), Gender, Carers, and Young Staff Network.
