As a Humanitarian Policy Officer, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the British Red Cross’s international policy work. You’ll contribute to impactful research, monitor global humanitarian trends, and help communicate key policy messages to a wide range of audiences. What will a day in the life of a Humanitarian Policy Officer involve?
  • Writing clear, engaging policy briefings and presentations for senior audiences.
  • Tracking humanitarian trends and sharing timely updates with stakeholders.
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of policy events and roundtables.
  • Analysing reports and summarising key insights for internal and external use.
  • Maintaining tools that track influencing and engagement activities.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to prepare for international meetings and events.
To be a successful Humanitarian Policy Officer, what will you need?
  • A strong knowledge of international humanitarian policy and development contexts.
  • Proven ability to research, draft and edit high-quality written materials.
  • Experience in providing policy advice and influencing decision-making.
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset.
  • Demonstrable experience in humanitarian advocacy or communications.
  • A commitment to inclusive practice and promoting diversity in all aspects of work.
