The purpose of the Head of Assurance & Oversight role is to ensure the organisation meets its legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations. Are you able to identify areas of non-compliance and work with others to find solutions? In this role, you’ll lead a team that manages assurance, complaints, and incidents. Can you take this data and use it to drive improvement across the organisation? You will need to ensure key systems are fit for purpose and help the organisation learn from issues. A day in the life of the Head of Assurance & Oversight will involve:
  • Collaborating with colleagues to check the organisation’s compliance with policies and addressing any issues that arise, ensuring all corrective actions are followed through.
  •  Managing the assurance, complaints, and incident management teams, making sure key programmes like shop audits and customer feedback are delivered effectively.
  • Taking responsibility for the Complaints, Compliments, and Comments (CCC) system and Datix Cloud IQ, ensuring both systems stay relevant and useful as the organisation evolves.
  • Analysing data from assurance activities, complaints, and incidents, and preparing clear reports for senior leadership to support improvements across the organisation.
  • Working with teams across the organisation to share insights, promote compliance, and drive best practices that improve overall performance.
To be a successful Head of Assurance & Oversight, you’ll need:
  • Experience in managing and guiding teams, with the ability to coach and develop staff effectively.
  • Proven skills in analysing data, identifying risks, and presenting solutions clearly to a range of audiences.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage with stakeholders and present findings in a clear, concise manner.
  • A background in managing assurance, risk, or governance functions, ideally within a large and complex organisation.
  • The ability to remain flexible and handle changing priorities whilst meeting tight deadlines, maintaining focus on delivering results.
