Internship - Fundraising Operations

Salary: £22,932 per annum
35 hours per week (Mon – Fri)
Contract Type: 12-Month fixed term Internship (from March 2026)
Do you have a strong attention to detail, a passion for delivering great service and want to gain hands-on experience in the charity sector?
This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in the charity sector with a focus on Fundraising operations. You’ll help us by responding quickly and compassionately to the people who contact us via post, email or phone. You’ll play a key role in making sure every supporter gets the help they need, on time and with a great experience. Working across income processing and supporter care you’ll be responsible for handling donation and supporter queries. These queries span the breadth of our fundraising – from corporate partnerships and philanthropy to, regional fundraising, events and mass marketing. You’ll act as a champion for inclusive, youth-informed approaches.
This internship will help prepare you for future career development as it offers opportunities for collaborative learning, meaningful contributions, and professional network growth. As the internship draws to a close, you’ll be encouraged to explore and apply for internal opportunities available at that time.
Wondering about a day in the life of our Fundraising Operations Intern?
- Donation processing: Opening mail, processing cash and cheques. Coding and recording income received. Dealing with donation and payment queries.
- Data Management: Keeping complete and accurate audit trail for all donations in the fundraising database. Ensuring donation records are accurate and easy to reconcile.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with Data Protection, PCI standards, and HMRC Gift Aid regulations.
- Supporter Care: Helping to manage the supporter care inbox. Providing phone support (triaging calls, doing routine call-backs, processing phone donations).
- You’ll contribute to projects and daily activities across teams, gaining insight into the different areas of the organisation.
- You’ll represent youth perspectives in meetings, events, and communications, using tools like Microsoft 365. You'll also take part in team discussions, sharing ideas and learning from others.
What will you need to be a successful Fundraising Operations Intern?
- A genuine interest in fundraising and the charity sector. The skills to engage confidently with a wide range of people.
- Initiative to proactively seek out information as required to deliver role.
- Working collaboratively to solve problems and deliver solutions.
- Appreciation for the importance of good supporter experience and donor care.
- Computer literate, with a working knowledge of the Microsoft suite at beginner’s level (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Recent experience of participating in education or beginning work.

Successful applicants will be invited to an initial group assessment in London (Moorgate), week commencing Monday 9th March. Before being shortlisted for the interview stage (conducted online).
